MELODY LANE: First of all, also if it can sound a bit expected…Can you tell us where does the name HELEVEN come from? 
Kike: Hello to everybody! For us the number 11 is very important, it has a strong meaning to all of us. But we wanted something different… and we added the H. When the CD artwork was being done, our art designer told us that 11 is the number for Saturn, and also the symbol of that planet is a “h”. What a coincidence!!!

MELODY LANE: The line-up of the band is confirmed, is it the same from the beginning of the band…or have you had changes in the last years? Can you tell us something about the roots of HELEVEN?And where the band was born?
Álvaro: No, at the beginning was a project of Higinio and me with others components. But in 2016 Kike and Matías joined us until today. And because we live in different places, but near, we can say that Heleven is from the coast of Granada.

MELODY LANE: Can you list us 3 songs, from HELEVENdiscography (including new material), that can define the sound of the band … 3 songs that can help our readers to know HELEVENat the best.
Higinio: Wow… it is a very difficult question to ask… because each song has a strong effect in us… but maybe we can choose “Titan And Gods” because it’s very powerfull, with riffs that could remind to Gojira, a chorus very singing and blacky moments. Another one is “Waterfalls”... in our live shows people go crazy with this song. And to finish… “Last Chance”, it’s very different to the others, very melodic. So, you can point us with this song triangle, despite the new songs for the next album are awesome!!! Hahahaha

MELODY LANE: Tell us something about the creative process of your music. Is there a main composer or we can talk about a team work? The songs come from ideas of a single member and then the band works on these ideas in the studio jamming together, or your songs are written in the studio and all the members compose together?Higinio: Well, for now, the main composer is me. I usually have demos that send to the other members and we work with that. The demos are changing with the time. Although we left the songs very open to finish at the studio. For example, we have some songs with 3 or 4 different choruses, and we live with them and choose the one suited the best for us. Now, the new songs have more ideas from the other members, specially from Álvaro. He is a great composer too. You will listen!

MELODY LANE: Who writes lyrics and words in HELEVEN? Can you tell us something about contents and messages of the lyrics of your songs?
Matías: AS you can expect… is Higinio again! The message in this album is related to love/sad/ desperation relationship… For that, he took the Medusa’s Myth and change the story to think about what happened if Medusa would fall in love with a man-statue. She must see him, she can touch him… but he is a stone forever because her… hard to live with that sensation day bay day ‘till her death.

MELODY LANE:  When can we expect a new official release from  HELEVEN?
Álvaro: We are now composing the new songs, so we will enter in the studio next summer maybe.  So our second album will be out at 2020 end, or 2021 first quarter.
Kike: The new songs are a step further in the way we understand our music, a bit more extreme in both ways!! So the production will be harder.

MELODY LANE:  So will you tour in the next future? Have you already a touring schedule? Any chance for us to see HELEVENplaying live here in Italy in the next months/year?
Higinio: Yes, we are touring just now. We have a spanish tour ‘till march for now. Lots of cities to show our music. We would love to play live in Italy. I love Italy and have lots of friends there! Each time I go there I feel like home. So if there is any chance to play there, we will do it for sure!

MELODY LANE: Could you tell us two bands, from the actual international scene, you’d like HELEVENto tour with?... Two bands that would represent a perfect line-up for HELEVENto play with. And why these bands?
Matías: Ufff… another difficult question!!! Well… We choose Alter Bridge and Gojira. Because, maybe, we are between the two, we are the middle point between theses bands’ style.

MELODY LANE: We know that ‘to define is to limit’… but how do you define HELEVENsound? Are you an HARD ROCK  band?…A grunge band?… A southern/alternative rock band Or…?
Kike: Just Metal band… For us is a bit strange say that… people is better than us and much more innovative! Some people says we are Alt Metal, some Grunge Metal; another ones, Rock Metal… So you can imagine our sound. 

MELODY LANE: Which musicians are/have been your main musical inspirations? And which are your favorite bands nowadays?
Higinio: Well… take a cocktail and put in: Alter Bridge, Alice In Chains, Evergrey, Mastodon, Gojira, Sevendust, Chris Cornell, Katatonia… shake it hard, and… “voilà” Heleven is born!! Hahaha...That bands are a great inspiration to us, but we listen a lot Devin Townsend, Periphery, and lately Leprous. Those guys are amazing!

MELODY LANE: As a musician, what has been your biggest achievement to date and what do you want to achieve in the near future? 
Matías: Our biggest achievement is that people likes our music. They enjoy our shows… In our last live show people make a wall of death… and playing seeing that is simply awesome. At the end, all is the people who listens to you, who supports you, who pushes you to keep on rocking.
Álvaro: In the near future we want to do an European Tour. Definitely is our main goal.
