MELODY LANE had a great interview with CHRIS DAMIEN DOLL, leader of the norwegian Hard Rockers SUiCiDE BOMBERS. Simply the most esplosive rock'n roll band in history. If you like glam, sleaze, and band like Kiss, Aerosmith and W.A.S.P don't miss these guys!!

MELODY LANE: Can you tell us where the name SUICIDE BOMBERS comes from? Who's the founder of the band and where are you from?
CHRIS DAMIEN DOLL: SUiCiDE BOMBERS is a classic Hard Rock band from Oslo, Norway. I started working on the ideas for the band in 2008 and slowly got members. We released our first album, CRiMiNAL RECORD in 2012, to great reviews from press and fans alike. In 2015 we released the follow up, a mini album titled The SEX TAPES and on 21st of April this year we released our third album, another full lenght, titled SUiCiDE iDOLS. We have toured extensively in Norway and also played in the rest of Scandinavia as well as a short European tour.
The band name is perfect for a Hard Rock band. There is a long boring analysis behind it, but we feel it's self explanatory and fans of Hard Rock will get it and love it, the same as us.
There are always those looking to be offended, but we are not here to cater to people that are anti Rock'n'Roll.
MELODY LANE: Which (bands) are/have been your main musical inspirations?
CHRIS DAMIEN DOLL: There are so many. We are all inspired by different music and I think most of it shines through in our music and playing. We all like a lot of the classic Hard Rock bands from the 70's and 80's and then there are individual inspirations. I like a lot of punk and glam metal, Lazy Leather the lead guitarist is probably the one who is most into Aerosmith and other 70's rock, although the rest of us dig that too. Bassplayer C Slim loves a lot of old blues and drummer Lyle Starr is heavily into  thrash metal.
But to us it isn't really about what you are inspired by, but how you blend your inspirations to create your own sound. There are too many bands out there who have one or two favorite bands and are trying to sound exactly like them. Those bands can be very good, but they'll most likely never be as good as the bands they are copying. It's important to take inspiration from many different sources and by doing that, you create your unique sound in the process. That has always been our aim and anyone familiar with the SUiCiDE BOMBERS will instantly recognize our sound.
MELODY LANE: The line up of the band is the same from the beginning of the band or have you had changes. The members in tour will be the same that played in the studio?
CHRIS DAMIEN DOLL: We have changed 1 member for every release so far. Unfortunately, as it's time consuming for the band, but we have been lucky to find the right people whenever we have made a change and been able to progress on the foundation we have created. The members of the band, at any given time, are the same on the albums and tours. We don't use studio musicians.

MELODY LANE: What has been your biggest achievement to date and what do you want to achieve in the near future?
CHRIS DAMIEN DOLL: That's a tough one, man. There are so many to choose from. One thing that stands out to me is that we sold out the first show we ever did. It was a rather small club, but it was our very first show and we didn't even have a record out. It was jam packed, the club sold out of beer midway through our concert and the audience had to go to a bar down the street to have a piss. That was very cool! Later sold out shows have also been amazing and of course, for me personally and probably the others as well, the records we have released have been great achievements. Especially this last one, as there were so many unfortunate circumstances piling up which prolonged the process and made it difficult for us.... almost like the record was cursed.... but I guess when you are making the world's first truly holy album, that goes with the territory. Still we made what the press is calling our best record yet and we completed it in time for the releasedate too.
In the near future we'd like to play more shows, especially in countries we haven't been before. Would love to play England and the USA were we sell a lot of CDs, but we'll see when that happens.
MELODY LANE: List 3 songs,  from the SUICIDE BOMBERS Discography, that can define the sound of the band … 3 songs that can help our readers to know SUICIDE BOMBERS at the best…
CHRIS DAMIEN DOLL: I encourage your readers to check out our youtube channel There they will find all our music videos. Those are pretty representative for our sound.
Here are the 3 latest ones:

MELODY LANE: Tell us something about the creative process of your music. Is there a main composer or we can talk about a team work? The songs come from ideas of a single member and then the band works on these ideas in the studio jamming togheter, or your songs are written in the studio and all the members compose togheter?
CHRIS DAMIEN DOLL: I usually write the songs by myself. The ideas can come from anything and start with anything, but I find it easiest if I have at least one line of lyric with a melody and an attitude and come up with the guitarriffs fairly quickly. Then I work out the rest and record a demo I send to the rest of the band. We bring the song to rehearsal, take it apart and put it back together again if anything needs to be fixed for the song to reach it's full potential. Everyone adds their own way of playing and what comes out is a SUiCiDE BOMBERS track. That's how I write my best stuff, but it's a free for all as far as writing goes as long as it's great and fits the style of the band. Our bassplayer C Slim brought in a complete song for our last album; a great tune which has become a staple in our live concerts.

MELODY LANE: What's the difference between your first album "CRiMiNAL RECORD," the follow up "The SEX TAPES" and your last album "SUiCiDE iDOLS"? After time, are you totally satisfied with your choices about sound and the writing of your debut album?
CHRIS DAMIEN DOLL: We are one of those bands who stick to our guns and develop within the style and sound we have created, so honestly I don't think there is much difference between our albums. Just new songs, really, and I am very proud of all of them. With that being said, there is always room for improvement. The day you have written the best song you'll ever write, recorded your best album or gotten a production you'll never be able to top, or even equal, is the day you're done. Part of the drive of being a writer and musician is to strive for the perfection, so whatever is next is always better. But of all the bands I have recorded albums with, SUiCiDE BOMBERS is the one I listen to the most after a record is done.

MELODY LANE: Will you tour in Europe in the next future?
CHRIS DAMIEN DOLL: There are no plans as of right now, but we'd love to tour Europe again. Would be great to come play for you guys in Italy too.

MELODY LANE: Could you tell us two bands, from the actual scene, you’d like to tour with in the next future…? And why these bands?
CHRIS DAMIEN DOLL: I think you'd get 4 completely different answers from this question depending on who in the band you ask, but since it's me doing the interview I'd like to tour with W.A.S.P. because they are one of my all time fave bands and I think we'd probably go over great with their audience. Kiss would be great too! Another favorite band and they have a huge audience. Aerosmith... the list goes on. I guess the most important is that you want to tour with a band who has a big crowd so you'll get to play to a lot of people and you want them to be similar enough musically so that their fans will like you too, but it's of course also an added bonus if it's a band we really love, so we can watch their show from the side of the stage every night. That would be awesome!

MELODY LANE: In the end…A message from you to all MELODY LANE readers.
